BEAUTIFYING MAIN INTERSECTIONS & THOROUGHFARES THROUGH PUBLIC VISUAL ART
In 2018, The Commission partnered with the Green Thumb Garden Club to involve artists and members of the club to paint floral images on the City's traffic and electric boxes.
The goal is to add to the beautification of the main corridors throughout Somers Point.

RICHARD SOMERS MURAL
The Somers Point Arts Commission first project was the development of a mural representing the life of local hero Richard Somers who died in the Barbary War in 1804. It is located on the three walls of the Somers Point Library and overlooks the Richard Somers Monument and the Richard Somers Memorial Park located at Shore Road and New Jersey Avenue in Somers Point.
Muralist, Maryann Cannon, painted this mural during the summer of 2015 and it was dedicated September 20, 2015 during the annual Richard Somers Day event.
